Akhil Patel signed a new two-year contract with Nottinghamshire in October 2009.

The 19-year old batsman made his LV= County Championship debut this season and appeared in four NatWest Pro40 fixtures after joining from neighbours Derbyshire.

Following in the footsteps of elder brother Samit has focussed the spotlight on Akhil but he is keen to establish himself in his own right.

He had keyhole surgery to address a niggling knee injury in the off-season but made a quick recovery and will push hard for first team inclusion in 2010.
